Our theme, “Voices of Africa,” spoken from the heart, echoed through the world, centers the diverse perspectives, experiences, and creativity of African communities — not just as history, but as a living, global influence.

“Tastes and Tales” Cooking & Storytelling Workshop

An interactive cooking and african storytelling workshop. Step into the traditional african hut kitchens, where tales are passed to generations and recipes are perfected. Join us as we prepare four african favourites from each corner of our continent followed by a guided storytelling workshop by Mimi on its history, significance and how we can transform our traditional storytelling techniques! Be sure to buy your tickets and wind down with us on the eve of our big finale here at our penultimate event, Taste & Tales.
Menu
1. Puff-Puff (West Africa) / Vetkoek Balls (South Africa)
Ingredients: Flour, sugar, yeast, salt, water, (optional: nutmeg or vanilla)
Prep: Mix, let it rise, deep-fry small balls.
2. Suya Skewers (Nigeria)
Ingredients: Thin beef or chicken slices, suya spice mix (peanut powder, paprika, chili), oil, skewers
Prep: Coat meat in spice mix, grill or pan-sear.
3. Mini Kelewele Bites (Ghana)
Ingredients: Ripe plantains, ginger, chili, salt
Prep: Chop into bite sizes, toss with seasoning, fry or air-fry.
4. Fried Yam Sticks with Shito or Pepper Sauce (Ghana)
Ingredients: Yam, salt, oil (serve with spicy pepper sauce or shito)
Prep: Slice yams like fries, fry till golden.
