African Business Day 2017: Africa Innovates. For all those interested in the African continent. Come and meet our experienced speakers...

The African Business Day  is an event that we organize with the support of the City of Rotterdam, the Rotterdam School of Management, the Erasmus School of Economics the Erasmus University, Clifford Chance and renowned individuals such as former prime minister of the Netherlands Jan Peter Balkenende and current mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb. During the day selected speeches and activities will facilitate the creation of relationships between students, business people and keynote speakers with valuable knowledge about Africa.

The purpose of our event is to give students in the Netherlands a new perspective on the fast-growing continent that is Africa and to educate them on the many possibilities and opportunities available on the continent. This year our theme will focus around "Africa Innovates" as we aim to change the narrative about Africa from a disadvantaged continent, to a well of opportunities. In line with our theme, we will also be introducing interactive workshop sessions, TED‐style keynote sessions, professional networking sessions with the current and future leaders of Africa, personal story sessions with panelists, and more.

The event will be divided into two parts with plenty of time dedicated to discussions and debates. The first part takes place on Friday the 26th, during which there will be a series of workshops given by renowned companies. The second part will take place on Saturday the 27th, and will host different speakers who will bring their perspectives on business in Africa closer to the audience through speeches, Q&A sessions and honorary discussions with students and other business people. During the breaks, there will be entertaining performances and artists which will ensure the right atmosphere for informal networking and socializing. The day will then conclude with ample time for networking during the social drinks and dinner buffet.
