WHAT?The African Business Day is an event that we organize with the support of the City of Rotterdam, the Rotterdam School of Management, the Erasmus School of Economics the Erasmus University, Clifford Chance and renowned individuals such as former prime minister of the Netherlands Jan Peter Balkenende and current mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb. During the day selected speeches and activities will facilitate the creation of relationships between students, business people and keynote speakers with valuable knowledge about Africa.
WHY?The purpose of our event is to give students in the Netherlands a new perspective on the fast-growing continent that is Africa and to educate them on the many possibilities and opportunities available on the continent. This year our theme will focus around "Africa Innovates" as we aim to change the narrative about Africa from a disadvantaged continent, to a well of opportunities. In line with our theme, we will also be introducing interactive workshop sessions, TED‐style keynote sessions, professional networking sessions with the current and future leaders of Africa, personal story sessions with panelists, and more.
HOW?The event will be divided into two parts with plenty of time dedicated to discussions and debates. The first part takes place on Friday the 26th, during which there will be a series of workshops given by renowned companies. The second part will take place on Saturday the 27th, and will host different speakers who will bring their perspectives on business in Africa closer to the audience through speeches, Q&A sessions and honorary discussions with students and other business people. During the breaks, there will be entertaining performances and artists which will ensure the right atmosphere for informal networking and socializing. The day will then conclude with ample time for networking during the social drinks and dinner buffet.

Diane Audrey Ngako, 25, is a creative entrepreneur, avid photographer and journalist. Born and raised in Douala (Cameroon), she left the country at the age of 12, starting a new journey that brought her in France and the US. She started her career as Chief Editor of Roots Magazine, a French print publication dedicated to African diaspora and Le Monde and TV5.
Diane Audrey is the founder of VisiterLAfrique.com, an interactive and collaborative digital platform dedicated to tourism and culture in Africa. With more than 90 000 followers on Instagram. The platform enables travelers to publish their travel journals, citizens talk about their lives and introduce the public to their village, city or country.
VisiterLAfrique.com plans to be the reference in terms of tourism in Africa. Diane Audrey holds a Master degree in communication and media. Now, after 13 years in France, she is back to Cameroon where she runs a paper magazine CHIK ad a creative agency called Omenkart.
Audrey is involved in several social and non-profit initiatives for the empowerment of girls and women in Africa.
Visiter l'Afrique is an interactive and collaborative digital platform dedicated to tourism and culture in Africa. The platform enables travelers to publish their travel journals; citizens talk about their lives and introduce the public to their village, city or country. In short, everyone is invited to share their getaway tips! Visiter l'Afrique covers the continent from East to West and from North to South, thanks to the narratives of all those who are passionate about Africa.
Sentini Grunberg (1987) was born and raised in Amsterdam and her parents are from Surinam, South America. She has studied medical biology, earned a masters of science degree in management and entrepreneurship and started her first business at age 19. With her video marketing agency Grunberg PR (grunbergpr.com) she helps SMEs and corporates with their online visibility. For her online YouTube program Behind the Mind (youtube.com/sentinig), she interviewed entrepreneurs from Amsterdam to Silicon Valley. Sentini feels at home on stage, that's why she regularly is asked to speak and host business events to inspire entrepreneurs.
